2020 Fall/winter schedule

El Movimiento: Latin Beginnings Ministries present our upcoming Fall-Winter weekly class schedule starting this semester, from September through November 2020. We have organized our class schedules to comply with COVID-19 MANDATES AND REGULATIONS. We will continue serving the community through our nonprofit organization El Movimiento: Latin Beginnings Ministries. Below will underline our classes, times and rates. During special occasions such as Holidays, or unforeseeable circumstances, the schedules may be adjusted and/or canceled; these unique situations will be communicated promptly via social media, and or recorded contact information received from students and associates. Free Children's evening classes:

“Minor Mondays” Children K-12 Salsa Group Lessons:

  • Time: Mondays from 6 pm to 7 pm Grades K-4

  • Dance Styles Covered: Latin (Salsa, Bachata)
  • Description: Our youth group lessons will be a co-ed class consisting of multiple students learning basic foundation for Latin social dancing and choreography. The lessons will focus on several key aspects needed for partner dancing such as: control, technique, movement and signalling . This is a great class that models and implements character building principles that introduce chivalry as a base for social interaction, cooperative communication, along with practical elements within the universal social dance scene. We will also cover dance etiquette, and scenarios that dancers may encounter to prepare for and handle articulately. This will definitely be a fun class that is designed to teach and promote integrity as each individual improves and evolves in character, as a dancer, and in confidence.

  • Dance Styles Covered: Breakdancing
  • Description: Our lessons will be held in a co-ed class consisting of multiple students learning basic foundation for break dancing. The lessons will focus on several key aspects needed for building an understanding of the physical, conceptual, technical demands within this style of dance such as: control, originality, technique, movement, creativity, and musicality. This is a great class that models and implements character building principles that introduce a base for confidence, cooperative communication for building unique and original concepts among peers, along with practical elements within the “bboy/bgirl” dance scene. We will also cover dance etiquette, and scenarios that dancers may encounter to prepare for and handle articulately. This will definitely be a fun class that is designed to teach and promote integrity as each individual improves and evolves in character, as a social dancer, and in confidence.

ELMO Kids: Choreographed and Performance Dance Lessons

  • Time: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 pm to 7 pm Grades 5-12
  • Location: 7211a N Lindbergh Blvd, Hazelwood, MO 63042

  • Dance Styles Covered: Salsa and Bachata
  • Description: Our lessons will be held in a co-ed class consisting of multiple students learning dance choreography to specific song for each dance style (one Bachata song and one Salsa song). Students will learn an new segment of routines every week. The lessons will focus on several key aspects needed for partner dancing such as: control, technique, movement and signalling . This is a great class that models and implements character building principles that introduce chivalry as a base for social interaction, cooperative communication, along with practical elements for synchronized choreography. We will also cover dance etiquette, and stage presence for performing. Students will perform full choreography together by end of semester. This will definitely be a fun class, designed to teach and promote integrity as each individual improves and evolves in character, as a confident dancer.

ELMO Kids: Breakdance Training and Practice Sessions

  • Time: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7 pm to 8 pm (open to advance dancers all ages)

  • Dance Styles Covered: Breakdance
  • Description: Our lessons will be held in a co-ed class consisting of multiple students advancing their basic foundation for break dancing. The lessons will focus on practical training methods needed for building an understanding of the physical, conceptual, technical demands within this style of dance such as: control, originality, technique, movement, creativity, and musicality. This is a great class that models and implements character building principles that introduce a base for confidence, cooperative communication for building unique and original concepts among peers, along with practical elements within the “bboy/bgirl” dance scene. We will also cover dance etiquette, and scenarios that dancers may encounter to prepare for and handle articulately. This will definitely be a fun class that is designed to teach and promote integrity as each individual improves and evolves in character, as a confident dancer.

Private Schooling Program:

ELMO Pedagogical Academy of Learning (E-PAL)

  • Time: Monday through Thursdasy from 7 am to 4 pm Grades K-2
  • Location: 7211a N Lindbergh Blvd, Hazelwood, MO 63042
  • Occurrence: Weekly (every week)
  • Cost: As low as $250 per month
  • Classes Offered: Advanced Academic Curriculum
  • Description: We understand the need and convenience of having children placed in a social learning environment where they will receive the attention needed to develop their learning abilities by an actual teacher. Our classes are modified to comply with the statewide social distancing measures set in place for schools to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment. We have implemented a block schedule format to meet both virtual and in-person learning recommendations set forth by local education and health field officials. There will be a maximum of FIVE students per class. Students will meet twice a week for 4 hours every other day. Student will learn academic subjects and lessons through unique effective, pedagogical methods. We will supply all materials needed for class (unless noted or requested otherwise due to unique circumstances). Classes will be staggered during in-class schedule, and homework assignments will be given for virtual days. We welcome all K-2 grade children back to school, and hope our new "E-PAL" service will provide a solution/option for the challenges virtual schooling may present for some parents.

Adult Classes:

Adult Four Week Boot-Camp Salsa & Bachata Group Lessons:

  • Location & Time: Wednesdays from 5 pm to 7 pm (Bachata 5pm-5:50 & Salsa 6pm- 6:50pm)- at: 7211a N Lindbergh Blvd, Hazelwood, MO 63042

  • Description: Our 4 week Boot-Camp lessons will be a co-ed class consisting of multiple students learning basic foundation. The lessons will focus on several key foundational aspects needed for evolving as a dancer such as: control, technique, movement (turns, spins, signalling) and awareness. This is a great class that models the true-to-life interactions that are practical within the universal social dance scene. We will also cover dance etiquette, and scenarios that dancers may encounter, to prepare for and handle articulately. This will definitely be a fun class that will help anyone just beginning, and wanting to improve and evolve as a social dancer.

Special Hosted Events

  • Cost: $10 cover for social dancing events
  • Description: We want everyone to enjoy dancing during all of our hosted or co-hosted special events. For this semester we are scheduling our events monthly by preregistration in order to stay within compliance of the COVID-19 safety mandates Socials present great opportunities to practice those new moves and techniques learned in our classes, while meeting new dancers within the scene. More details to come as we journey through the semester during these challenging times.

  • Description: Our Special Requests Services are geared toward focusing on the needs and requests of each individual, by offering one-on-one attention, and solutions for restoring or building confidence in each student in a comfortable setting. Our services will always consist of 2 teachers (Tashia, and David) to help and assist with focusing on key areas of concern and growth, from both "lead" and "follow" perspectives, and also to demonstrate, practical techniques for improvement during the session. We offer several services for special occasions as well, such as: weddings, birthdays, event functions, etc. We offer group privates at a special rates. *Please inquire by contacting us directly for any accommodations and special pricing offers!

  • No partners are needed for any of our classes, but are welcomed of course!
